BI Dashboard

In the EnterpriseIQ customizable desktop dashboard, Smart Page, IQMS users can configure Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that allow users to display a dashboard full of multiple charts. This analytics tool allows a user to quickly glance at the performance of the same user-defined metric without running reports that often take time to prepare and additional time to read. Many of our users display these KPIs in a slideshow on the shop floor to help their employees identify problems quickly. The KPIs paint a nice picture that is easy to understand, with visualize variation that may not be as evident in tabular spreadsheet or report form.

As our manufacturers took advantage of the KPIs in their offices to quickly identify key metrics, they discovered the KPIs would be more powerful if they were interactive. Our customers desired the ability to create high level views with the ability to jump down into the detail of the actual transaction or event driving the derived result. They wanted a small subset of Business Intelligence (BI) software – Tools that allow you to connect and filter related data so that correlations in the datasets could be analyzed quickly and readily from multiple vantage points, yet still allow the user to configure the look and formulas, plus aggregate the data to fit the employee’s niche space.

IQMS has always supported customer-driven development, so it recently collaborated with customers to bring this type of analytical tool to an upcoming version of Smart Page. New and old users can look forward to harnessing the power of the Business Intelligence (BI) Dashboard module that is easily accessible and configurable from Smart Page, but also accessible from any HTML5 web browser-based device!

The BI Dashboard is a web-based tool that allows users to set up a display of multiple charts that interact with the same filtering. It supports the ability to configure the look and feel of a dashboard in a secured web browser-based environment so that users on the go can access the critical information they need without sharing it in an email that can be resent to people outside the organization.

The tool also supports the ability to organize, navigate, link, jump and drill into any number of other dashboards. Users can copy and paste links of filtered dashboards in chat forums or text messages rather than being forced to email screenshots or attach files to email back and forth. The data is secured through a user login to the BI Dashboard website where the recipient can jump right into the filtered data and begin their own analysis, starting with the data that the first user was looking at. Once in the site, users can click a specific chart to export the displayed data to a CSV file.

A powerful feature of the BI Dashboard module is the ability to define filters that will apply to multiple charts at the same time. As an example, users will have the ability to harness the power of the EnterpriseIQ RealTime Production and RealTime Process Monitoring systems with the BI Dashboard to view information such as OEE performance, top 10 downtime reasons and top 10 reject code descriptions. Once the charts are created, users can then filter the view to examine specific inventory items, manufacturing cells, equipment or some other user-defined categorization.

These parameters can be passed between dashboards by simple naming convention in order to supply other dashboards with the present view of information that is not necessarily represented in the data point of a chart you’ve clicked on. Simply, the BI Dashboard provides fine grain configuration of filters and queries, as well as rapid connections of that data to charts that can be easily navigated. Within the fine grain control of data, users can define the data source through an easy to edit, drag and drop screen that displays the relationships or gets down to the developer level using raw SQL.

The Internet of Things’ (IoT) presence on the shop floor, in combination with a complex ERP and MES solution, is allowing for more data, process parameters and information to be collected than ever before. But without the proper tools to filter and analyze this data, you cannot take advantage of all that information has to offer. With the new BI Dashboard module, IQMS customers will be armed and ready to put all of their Big Data to good use.
